La Tropa F

About the band

1950s

Born, raised, and based in San Antonio, Tx., La Tropa F have been in the regional Mexican/Tejano Conjunto music industry for over 30 years. The band began in the mid-50's with their father performing in a band named "Los Compadres Alegres".

1970s

With the sons now joining the band, the group became "Los Hermanos Farias". A local radio station DJ Guero Polkas always commented in his interviews with the band about how they would walk in and look like an army. Using the 'F' from Farias, he then called them the F Troop.

1990s

The brothers soon translated the F Troop to spanish and became "La Tropa F" in 1990. In 1993, the brothers introduced the third generation, Jesse Farias Jr., of this musically inclined family. By this time, La Tropa continued to remain in the Tejano music industry for over five decades.

Present

This is where the journey begins... La Tropa F has an extensive library of music in which they have been gratefully blessed with several gold and platinum records, and award nominations through Grammy and Billboard. They continue the journey trying to expand Tejano music through borders and state lines.

La Tropa F would like to humbly thank all their fans that they have gained along the way. Not forgetting the roots of music with gratitude and much respect to the forefathers of Tejano, we like to feel we contributed to the progressive sound as it is heard today. We look forward to the future and to the generations that will add their chapter to the legend of Tejano music.
